Reminiscent of the west of Scotland, the beautiful, undulating site gives you a sense of majesty - a private paradise. When the wind is in the right direction, one hears crashing waves, or sheep bells from a distant hill. There is no noise or light pollution - the stars are spectacular. Hillside views all around, and a gorge running down towards the sea to the west. The land is virgin territory populated with ancient olive, juniper and oak trees. Within the grounds are at least 8 specimens over 500 years old, in four seprate wooded areas. The wild olive root stock is ideal for grafting cultivars.

Outdoor Living

Patio: (5x8 m.) On the bright, south-side of the house with a beautiful view west to the sea. Paved with local stone, the patio is the ideal spot for sunset drinks, star-gazing summer nights, and sunny winter lunches. Double doors from the dining room allow easy access to the kitchen. The patio continues as the balcony. An external stone stairway leads down to the lower level.

Balcony: (10x3 m.) Tiled with ceramic, marble, and mirror, the balcony is a lovely spot for a sheltered breakfast in the morning sun. A single door leads from bedroom 2, and round the corner on the south side, double doors open from bedroom 1. The balcony becomes the patio.

Olive Grove: A circular area (large enough to seat 30), paved in local stone. The perfect place for cool, shady midsummer lunches. Stone paths lead from the front door and reception 2. For an afternoon siesta, the ancient olive trunks provide excellent supports for hammocks.

Terraced Garden

Sheltered south-facing valley landscaped into 5 wide, level terraces for easy planting and maintenance - uniquely protected for such a spectacular coastal site. South-east slope sculpted into seven narrow terraces, with ramps for easy lawnmower access. A highly attractive proposition for anyone who wanted to plant a stunning, low-maintenance garden. The hard work (bulldozer, irrigation, and wind break planting) is complete.

Garden

Dry-stone wall flowerbeds filled with quality topsoil, crocus lawn planted in front garden, rock garden built. Sheltered, east-facing vegetable patch. Stone paths from the house, around beds, to paved olive grove.

Irrigation: 6-circuit automatic drip irrigation system installed, covering whole property.

Fruit Orchard: sheltered terraces planted with: peaches, nectarine, apricots, figs, pomegranate, lemon, 3 varieties of orange, clementine, grapefruit, apple, greengage, pears, and currants.

Swimming pool

Planning permission obtained for a swimming pool to the west of the house, sheltered by a natural border of mediterranean shrubs and trees. Plumbing is in place for a private hot tub in a secluded spot under an ancient juniper tree. Click here for pool plan and simulated image. The site of the pool is marked on the satellite map showing the boundary.
